The Lifespan Alternative is a unique residential living program for adults aging with a brain injury, developed by the Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute (NRI), a component of Brookhaven Hospital.
For over 20 years, NRI has been offering services to people affected by brain injury and other neurological disorders.
While residing as a member of The Lifespan Alternative, a person can receive a number of different kinds of specialized care, including:
- Medical management by doctors familiar with brain injury
- Therapies focused on gaining or maintaining certain skill sets to support cognitive health
- Aid by trained technicians who understand the particular needs of a person with a brain injury so that the individual remains safe and feels supported
